The Queen Elizabeth Hospital King’s Lynn Foundation Trust have recently invested in a New Data Centre and associated latest technology infrastructure. A post have become vacant requiring an experienced Senior infrastructure technician to work within a busy and adaptable ICT environment responsible for day to day maintenance /design solutions of backend data center technologies and server administration.
The Trust is looking for candidates with experience within an ICT Services Team. You will have excellent working knowledge of VMware, Storage solutions and Server/Desktop Environments. Experience of working in an ITIL based environment. We want a strong communicator and team player. It is important that you have a real passion for your work with proactive approach to the service and overall solution.
Post Holder will be responsible for newly upgraded backend Server infrastructure with the latest technologies, management and updating of infrastructure systems in a very busy data centre environment
Responsibilities for this role include:
Working within the ICT/IM&T teams and the Trust at large, the successful applicant will be responsible for:
Support and maintenance of the server infrastructure, including Data Centre and Server Rooms.
Provides Senior 3nd line technical support to end-users (with complex IM&T problems); acts as a liaison between 1st and 2nd line support, responds to Service Desk calls that cannot be "talked through" by telephone.
Provide technical support to ICT projects. Provide the Infrastructure design/ support and implementation expertise
Delivers the application support of corporate and departmental applications, often in close collaboration with third party suppliers
To be part of the problem management function within the ICT department
Support the implementation and Go-Live components of IT projects
Support the resolution of ICT/ IM&T support calls in a timely and efficient manner, performing installations, configurations, relocations and decommissioning of computer hardware and software; fault-finding and rectifying problems; tracking the progress of IT support calls and promoting good practice in the use of hardware, software and information governance.
Essential technologies and experience required includes advanced knowledge of Cisco UCS Hardware and technologies, working with Server Virtualisation technologies, Knowledge of Storage Area Network (SAN) and Excellent VMware skills.
Participate and actively contribute in projects including new systems deployment, product design, Server/storage expansions and Data Centre improvements.
Possess excellent communication skills with proven technical experience. Must have been involved at a high level with infrastructure projects and implementations.
Produce test specifications as required to follow and carry out fault diagnostics relating to system critical problems as part of installations.
Adhere to change and release management processes in line with an ITIL framework.
Manage the successful implementation of new or modified infrastructure/systems elements within pre-planned development projects and defined time scales.
Work alongside IT user base to investigate ICT and operational issues / requirements and contribute to the efficiency improvement of the IT Infrastructure.
Ensure incidents /resolutions are correctly documented, resolved in line with SLA procedures and suggest appropriate future actions in order to mitigate risk.
The role will be working in the main within standard core hours but will be required to have a flexible approach to working hours in order to support pre-planned project rollouts.
Previous NHS experience in a similar role would be desirable. On Call Support will also be required.
